Direct-only Android configurations stopped watch details and comments before reaching the core, and the comment parser skipped modern YouTube replies. This change lets Direct YouTube serve channel pages, watch details, comments and replies, and subscription feeds through the existing app APIs.

  • Parse current channel cards, compact view counts, channel IDs, live and members-only badges, and localized tab endpoints.
  • Load watch details from the web response when the player request fails, and handle modern and classic comment threads plus reply pagination.
  • Validate continuation kinds, keep pagination with its source, and stop Direct requests when the source has been removed.
  • Share request limits, health tracking and rate-limit cooldowns between Direct browsing, playback resolution and feeds.
  • Accept Direct-only watch and comment sources on Android, add Direct YouTube controls to macOS setup and settings, and refresh web channel tabs past the server cache.
  • Document source ordering and Direct request routing, and keep the core's offline build working.

Validation:

  • Core suite: 612 passed, 15 ignored.
  • Offline core suite: 265 passed, 1 ignored.
  • Live YouTube checks: 6 passed, covering channel and search pagination, playlists, watch details, comments and replies, RSS feeds, and stream resolution.
  • Web tests: 17 passed.
  • Android debug compilation and focused watch-client tests: 2 passed.
  • Changed Rust files pass rustfmt; JavaScript syntax and git diff checks pass.

Popular/Trending discovery and caption lookup for downloads still require Invidious. The macOS UI build was not verified in this Linux workspace.
